Myranda Wilt - Stories at Highlands

God loves nothing more than to champion the underdog. He gives beauty in
ways this world will never be able to. In circumstances that should take us out, God rises up in us and we overcome!

Four years ago, two lines on a pregnancy test became the beginning of a
journey Myranda Wilt never imagined would be her own. Although she was
always drawn to special needs children, she never dreamed she would be
called to raise a beautiful little girl with autism. Myranda began to see
red flags in her daughter's behavior when she was nearing one and a half
years old. Something was just off. Six months later, the behavior took a
dive for the worst. Yet hearing the diagnosis of autism gave Myranda a
sense of relief. Autism was not a setback; it was a gift to be able to
understand her daughter's needs and to move forward with a plan. Little
did Myranda know that she would gain more than any perceived loss.

We live in a broken world and 'life happens' to us all.

Plans don't workout.
Expectations aren't met.
Dreams get lost.
We get tired.
sick.
hurt.
disappointed.
broken.

But as a child of God, we are not a victim of circumstance. We have a
choice. We can see our lives as one dimensional and feel like this is all
there is, or we can let God's Spirit and words speak truth into us, saying,
"There's more!".

All throughout God's word, we see Him use hard circumstances, bleak
situations, and impossible outcomes to shape His kids and to fulfill a
greater vision, which is to touch the world with His love and hope. We are
part of a community; a family of believers. We are meant to bear one
another's burdens and build each other up. When we have been given hope,we
turn and throw a rope to the next one behind us. Our stories are never
really about "just us". They are tools to spread hope and life, which is
exactly what Myranda feels in her soul. In her own words, "He can use
anything, for any body". She feels the weight of this gift and she shares
it to let others know they are not alone.

When we allow Him, God truly will use anything broken and make it
beautiful. He takes our greatest pains and shapes them into our greatest
gains. This world is temporary, but there is an eternity waiting for us. He
is more interested in our souls and getting truth into our deepest parts
than anything else. Because when we become aware of the truth of who He is
and who we are in Him, we become a force to be reckoned with!

You can feel the passion in Myranda's voice as she says, "God loves her
[daughter] more than I do. I am meant to be her mom or God would not have
given her to me". She is a soul forever changed by the grace of God. She
sees that God is creating in her own heart a better person. A more true
version of herself and who she is called to be. God shakes us so that only
good remains. And in this life, our darkest days become our most
liberating moments when in the hands of a good Father.

How is God shaping you? What fingerprints has He left on your soul and who
can you throw a rope to?
