The Work is Finished: Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life

In John 14:6, 'Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. ' In saying this, Jesus declares to His people that every aspect of our lives is covered by Him. He is the way, the truth, and the life. Salvation is only found through Him because these three things are not subjective. There cannot be multiple ways, multiple truths and multiple lives. Many other religions will try to say that there are multiple ways to Heaven or that we are all just on different paths to the same place. When we look at the words of Jesus, how He describes Himself and the road to life and salvation, these other religious views cannot be correct. Jesus makes it very clear that He is the ONLY way! There is no one and nothing else that can do what He did, and He is the only sacrifice that satisfied God’s wrath.

Jesus, being fully God and fully man, descended to earth to be born of a virgin. He lived a perfect life, died a brutal and torturous death on the cross, then rose from the dead three days later! Jesus, being fully God and fully man, sacrificed Himself on our behalf. He satisfied the wrath of God and displayed His holiness. God’s standard for us to be able to reach Him and live eternally in Heaven is absolute perfection. None of us can meet that standard, because none of us are anywhere near perfect. But Jesus, being the perfect Son of God and God Himself, was the only one who could satisfy that wrath and be that substitution for His people.

Acts 16:31 says, 'And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.” ' The Bible specifically says here that ALL we must do to be saved is believe in Jesus Christ! We don't have to work, we don't have to give; we just have to believe. But, we must catch the second part of that verse: we must believe in Jesus Christ. There is no other! He is the only way to be saved, and the Bible is very clear on that.

There were heresies floating around the early church from false teachers who were saying that in order to be saved, you had to have Jesus + something. During that time, it was circumcision or other acts of the Old Testament Law. But doesn’t that occur today? We have so many people being fooled by the lie that they must add something to Jesus in order to obtain or secure their salvation. But there is simply nothing that we could even attempt to add to our salvation that could ever be enough. Jesus is THE only One who is enough for us, and nobody else could ever have done what He did and be the One to save us. The work is finished! Jesus rose from the dead, and He is alive! So, we no longer have to strive. We simply rest in the fact that our Savior is enough and the work is FINISHED!

Overall, the Bible is very clear that salvation is found in Jesus alone. Multiple times throughout the Scriptures, we are told that Jesus is the ONLY one who saves. And that is the truth! It is not of us, it is not of others, it is not of works. It is ONLY by Jesus Christ, the perfect Son of God. The shedding of His blood makes us white as snow. This is why Christianity is so opposite to any other religion. We worship the God who, instead of making us do things to reach Him, stepped down and gave Himself for us! This is the greatest display of love that has ever and will ever happen! He makes it so easy for us to be with Him! All we must do is believe in Jesus Christ and His death, burial, and resurrection, for the forgiveness of our sins.

There is no other way because there is no other God. Jesus is Lord and He did what nobody else could do! This is incredible news for everyone who places their faith in Him. They are eternally secure! Jesus gives us life and life to the fullest! He leads us to true life and saves us from the dominion of darkness. He is the way, the truth, and the life, and nobody can reach the Father except through Him.
