The Cross: Week 3: It is Finished!

John 19:28-30 Later, knowing that everything had now been finished, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I am thirsty.” 29 A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips. 30 When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. (NIV)

  • WE HAVE UNFINISHED BUSINESS

Revelation 3:1-2 I know your deeds; you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead. 2 Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have found your deeds unfinished in the sight of my God. (NIV)

WHAT IS YOUR UNFINISHED BUSINESS?

FINISH STRONG

1. MAKE A COMMITMENT

2 Corinthians 8:11 Now finish the work, so that your eager willingness to do it may be matched by your completion of it, according to your means. (NIV)

Luke 22:42 “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” (NIV)

2. TAKE THE NEXT STEP

Galatians 5:25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. (NIV)

Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. (NIV)

WHAT’S YOUR NEXT STEP?

Philippians 1:6 …being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. (NIV)

Acts 20:24 However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace. (NIV)
