Mothers Day

Mother’s Day 2023

Rebekah had this one act of generosity that changed history.  And at the time she wouldn’t have had any clue that it was going to make that big of a difference.

Abraham's plan

Then he prayed, “LORD, God of my master Abraham, make me successful today, and show kindness to my master Abraham.  See, I am standing beside this spring, and the daughters of the townspeople are coming out to draw water.”   Genesis 24:12 - 13

“May it be that when I say to a young woman, ‘Please let down your jar that I may have a drink,’ and she says, ‘Drink, and I'll water your camels too.’

…let her be the one you have chosen for your servant Isaac. By this I will know that you have shown kindness to my master.”

Before he had finished praying, Rebekah came out with her jar on her shoulder.     Genesis 24:14 - 15 a

“Can I have a drink?”

“Sure, and I'll water your camels too.”

We have a… “What's the least I can do” attitude.

Rebekah had this one act of generosity that changed history.  And at the time she wouldn’t have had any clue that it was going to make that big of a difference.

Four principles from Rebekah

You can’t be generous and expect something back at the same time.

You can’t walk the second mile until you’ve walked the first.

“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.”     Luke 16:10

You can’t wait for the feeling. It will follow.

Matthew 6:21 “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

Even the smallest acts of generosity make a difference.
