HOW TO BE LED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT  

I can't follow a culture that doesn't follow God! 

Do not follow the crowd in doing wrong.    Exodus 23:2a

Do not copy the behavior or values of this world. Instead, et God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what God wants you to do, and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect his will really is.  Romans 12:2

I can't follow friends who aren't led by God

Do not let anyone lead you in the wrong way! Christ is righteous, so to be like Christ, you must do what is right. Anyone who keeps on sinning is being led by the Devil.      1 John 3:7 

Keep company with wise friends and you'll become wise. But if you associate with fools, your life will suffer great hurt.     Proverbs 13:20

I can't look to other sources besides God

I must stop being led by my circumstances

I cannot be led by my feelings

You may feel you're on the right road and still end up dead. Proverbs 14:12 

We've all strayed away like sheep! We have left God's path to follow our own.    Isaiah 53:6a

I must desire to be led by the Spirit

My God, I want to do what you want. Your teachings are in my heart.    Psalm 40:8  

I must be willing to do what God says

Whoever is willing to do what God wants and chooses it will know if what I teach comes from God.    John 7:17

I must look to God's Word

Your Word is a lamp to guide me, and a light for my path. Psalm 119:105

Guide my steps by your Word, so I will not be overcome by any evil.    Psalm 119:133

Stop listening for a voice, and start looking for a verse. 

I must ask the Holy Spirit to be my guide

Teach me, Lord, what you want me to do, and lead me down the right path.    Psalm 27:11a

I must listen for God's response

Your road led through the sea – your pathway through the mighty waters - a pathway no one knew was there.      Psalm 77:19
