Emmanuel, God With Us // week 5

And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.     Luke 2:7

When Herod the King had heard these things, he was troubled….     Matthew 2:3

GOD REVEALED HIMSELF

And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another: “Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.” So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in a manger.       Luke 2:15 – 16

For this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I myself will search for my sheep and look after them.  As a shepherd looks after his scattered flock when he is with them, so will I look after my sheep. I will rescue them from all the places where they were scattered on a day of clouds and darkness.            Ezekiel 34:11 – 12

“Return, faithless people,” declares the Lord, …. “Then I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will lead you with knowledge and understanding.”     Jeremiah 3:14, 15

When the angel appeared to shepherds, he brought “good news  of great joy,” not just for Israel, but for “all people”.        Luke 2:10

It ends with them sharing this news:

...returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen.     Luke 2:20
